“Preferred target” – Vierra targets Edouard, “Crystal Palace are still in talks with Celtic”

Talks are continuing between Celtic and Crystal Palace over a transfer deadline day deal that would take the French Under 21 striker Odsonne Edouard to Selhurst Park. The Guardian’s Sports Desk Editor Ed Aarons gave an update and confirmed that The Celtic striker is the Palace manager Patrick Vierra’s “preferred target” as the Premier League club look to bring in a goalscorer.

Edouard is attracting interest from elsewhere in England with Everton reportedly looking to compete for Edouard’s signature while both French side Bordeaux and Russia’s Rubin Kazan have both made bids, allowing Celtic to force the issue on price.

“Understand Crystal Palace are still in talks with Celtic over a deal for French striker Odsonne Edouard. Told he is Patrick Vieira’s preferred target,” The Guardian sports writer reports.

Meanwhile former Celtic right back Mark Wilson has been outlining his thoughts on Edouard on Sky Sports and reckons it be best for both the player and the club that he should get his long overdue transfer in this window. Edouard was out of sorts at Ibrox yesterday, missing an open goal in the first half that would have given Celtic a crucial lead and it seemed clear that his mind was already elsewhere.
