“Propping Up The Coefficient This Week Single Handed”, Chris Sutton Makes Ironic European Football Joke

Scottish football has had an interesting time in the European arena of late. Last season theRangers reached the Europa League final and Celtic exited three continental competitions (as the Bears love to remind us); meanwhile, this term has seen Motherwell embarrassingly crash out of Conference League qualification at the hands of Sligo Rovers, theRangers have been beaten 2-0 by Royal Union St Gilloise in the Champions League qualifiers and Dundee United have produced a stunning 1-0 win over Az Alkmaar.

Just hours after the Arabs’ famous win, Chris Sutton took to social media to talk about the upcoming BT Sport chart show – Scottish Football Extra. The former Parkhead hero took aim at theRangers fans, who have become obsessed with coefficient points since title winners Celtic gained automatic entry into the Champions League (despite the fact Celtic actually contributed slightly more points), by saying:

“Looking forward to Scottish Football Extra tonight 6.30pm on BT Sport with Ally and talking Dundee United (Ally’s second favourite team) propping up the coefficient this week single handed.”

It’ll be interesting to see what bait he dangles on the show!
