Callum McGregor is one of three Celts who have been at the club throughout the entirety of nine in a row. He may not have burst into the first team until a later stage, unlike James Forrest and Scott Brown, who have been regular first teamers throughout; nevertheless he was a product of the Celtic youth team and has been under contract at all times.
As such, McGregor understands the significance of reaching ten in a row. The number of Scots in the Celtic squad is encouraging, as they will all have that extra understanding of this season’s magnitude, alongside John Kennedy and Neil Lennon.
Unprecedented is somewhat of a buzz word in these current times. However, reaching ten consecutive league titles would be an unprecedented achievement, which would write this current crop of players into the history books beside the Lisbon Lions. It’s a mouthwatering prospect, which McGregor is relishing.
McGregor, who has won every league campaign that he has featured in, told the Celtic View:
“The supporters can be proud of the team that’s on the pitch and proud of their club, and I certainly know that when you’re playing in front of our fans, it’s just an incredible feeling. We’ve got a great relationship with everyone within the club and towards the supporters, and the supporters back to the players. It seems to be a really special time for the club at the minute and it’s something that I know the boys are extremely proud of.
“The boys are just desperate now to get back on the pitch and train and be together again, and that will just fuel the motivation to go again next season and finish the job.”
