Report: Celtic considering PSG left-back in frantic end to transfer window

Celtic are considering a move for PSG left-back Layvin Kurzawa. The 31-year-old has made just one appearance for the Ligue 1 side and the Frenchman has been offered to Brendan Rodgers’ side as they look to strengthen at left-back.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Celtic are looking to get in a left back ahead of the window closing tomorrow night. The player is out of contract in the summer and will be looking for some game time to return from his ACL injury sustained last season.

Hugo Bueno from Wolves was also considered as an option but the Premier League side did not seem keen so the player has been offered to Celtic by his agents. The player actually faced up against Celtic twice in the UEFA Champions League in 2017.

The Scottish Champions are keen on signing another left-back to compete with Greg Taylor, who is currently out injured. The Scotland Internationalist suffered a calf strain in the win against Buckie Thistle, meaning he missed the win over Ross County. Alexandro Bernabei started that game and at present, the Argentine is the only fit first team option.

  1. Like any player that joins our club, I hope that they do well for ourselves and prove there worth to ourselves?
Never going to be always a success with the market we are operating in all the same?
Gut feeling is this could be another loan signing with the wait and see approach taken by Rodgers imo.
Still believe Beck might have been the preferred option, but as Liverpool could have viewed ourselves as messing Philips around upon game time, then they responded in kind regarding Beck?
Would be surprised if much thinking has potentially gone into any long term plans regarding this potential player.
So maybe with 2 positions in striker and LB and bringing in potential players to cover moreso the remainder of this season, moreso than any long term strategy involved?
Why such an option taken presently?
Could the player’s Rodgers really would like aren’t available to him or maybe he hasn’t got any long term plans of actually staying in the job now imo?
January is doing nothing more than raising questions than finding solutions currently, which is a scandalous way for our club to be operating currently imo?

  2. Is anybody surprised? Rodgers came crawling back on his knees. Desmond and the board realised if they throw Rodgers a lifeline after his disastrous spell down south, they would have a toothless lapdog.
Just look at Rodgers saying we need to bring in 4 quality players. Since then we have bought in two underwhelming signings but Rodgers is not kicking up like he did last time around.

I understand to Desmond and the board it’s business, this club is just a way to line their pockets.
We need either a) owners that love the club. (Jim Kerr, Rockin Rod, Connor Mac) or
    b) Rich Middle Eastern syndicates that don’t really care about the history but will throw buckets of cash bringing in top players to pad their Ego.
