Report: Celtic hold initial talks with Steven Fletcher but in no rush to sign veteran

STEVEN FLETCHER has held initials talks with Celtic but Neil Lennon is not rushing to commit to sign the 33-year-old as they chase Albian Ajeti from West Ham.

The Daily Record are claiming that talks have been held but with four Championship clubs interested in Fletcher, there is no rush on Celtic’s part to seal a deal. Celtic have been linked with Ivan Toney from Brentford and Ajeti on a loan-to-buy agreement from the Hammers.

Fletcher has had an impressive season in the English Championship but left Sheffield Wednesday following the expiry of his deal. In 31 starts, the veteran bagged 13 goals and 2 assists.

Celtic are in the market for a new striker as the Scottish Champions look to offload Bayo to Toulouse in the coming days. Klimala has become the second striker with Leigh Griffiths being nudged to third choice in recent weeks. Another striker would allow Lennon to play 3-5-2 when needed.

Back in 2009, Gordon Strachan was interested in bringing the Scotland Internationalist to Celtic but talks stalled allowing the target man to join Burnley for just over £3m.
