Report: Celtic’s move for Joe Hart in doubt as Neil Lennon looks to European keeper

NEIL LENNON will look to Europe for a goalkeeper as the Scottish Champions look to find a replacement for Fraser Forster. The 32-year-old Englishman was the number one target for Lennon ahead of the beginning of what could be the 10IAR season but no deal is yet to be struck and Lennon told the Daily Record that they wouldn’t wait forever for Forster’s answer meaning the club will look to the transfer market for a new No.1.

Joe Hart had been tipped as a potential candidate following his release from Burnley; however, a report from the Telegraph has said that this is unlikely as Celtic are looking to Europe for their new keeper.

“Celtic have turned their attention to the European market for their No 1 goalkeeper, which may put a move for Joe Hart in doubt. The Scottish champions have been looking for a keeper following Fraser Forster’s return to Southampton following his season-long loan.”

The decision by Lennon to effectively move on from Forster could potentially force the Englishman and Southampton to come to a decision on his future. Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl said he would look at transfer incomings and outgoings when the season ends next weekend but Celtic have more pressing time constraints to deal with – considering they start the season against Hamilton Accies in a fortnight.
