Report says Callum McGregor is out for the rest of the season

Celtic could be without skipper Callum McGregor the remainder of the season due to an Achilles issue. The 30-year-old was substituted at half time in the win over Dundee and has missed the last two games.

After Celtic beat Livingston, the Daily Record reported on Brendan Rodgers’ comments about the team and included in the report was the suggestion that the Scotland Internationalist is out for the remainder of the season.

“The Hoops are without Callum McGregor for the rest of the season while Cameron Carter-Vickers missed out with injury and Rodgers reckons those absences had their part to play in a poor performance from his team.”

Earlier in the week, Rodgers said that the scan was not conclusive and this meant that the club would need to manage any injury. However, this update would be a major blow to Celtic with McGregor’s quality shining through in the middle of the park.

Celtic are a totally different team without CalMac and if, as is reported, he is out for the rest of the season then we really need Reo Hatate back as soon as possible. Cameron Carter-Vickers also missed the game through injury and it’s a huge gulf in class at the back between when he plays and when he doesn’t.

  1. Big loss but we still have the players to cope with spl up to players to prove aren’t a one man team even if hiata returns he will ne far from match fit and pushing him could make it worse look this a poor spl there I’d no standout

  2. Justshatered on

Perhaps during the international break, we should take the team to Lourdes !!
I’ve seldom known a season like this in 45 years in going to games.
Hatate has missed virtually the whole season. Likewise Carter Vickers. Abada missed three months prior to his departure. Taylor over a month. Lagerbielke and Nawrocki have also missed months. Johnstone’s facial injury. Now another injury to Carter Vickers and McGregor is now out for an unspecified period.
