RMT praise Celtic support for highlighting shameful poverty in UK

The RMT have praised the Celtic supporters for once again shinning a light on the awful poverty statistics in Britain in 2022. As always, the Green Brigade had a banner aimed at the establishment with their abominable overseeing of poverty rates rising in the UK.

Every year there is an annual foodbank drive within the support to help those on the receiving end of this government’s cuts. Nothing seems to change with the Conservatives in this regard as they seem intent on carrying on the work their hero Margaret Thatcher revelled in; destroying the working-class.

This year there has been a severe struggle with the rail workers as they strive for higher pay and better working conditions. Not an unreasonable demand you would think in 2022 however, it has saw major strikes as the train companies are refusing to budge, causing carnage for people’s daily lives in the process.

Now, once again, the supporters have thrown their weight behind the cause of equality, highlighting the wealth inequalities in this country, which makes for rather sombre reading. Under the heading ‘Enough Is Enough’, the stats read, 25% of children, 20% of working age people, 14% of pensioners all live in poverty.

The RMT official Twitter account caught wind of this online and retweeted the photograph from the display against Dundee United, saying: ‘Brilliant! Enough Is Enough’! This will no doubt be a fantastic show of solidarity with all those on the picket lines these past few days, weeks, and months.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
