Paddy Roberts Set for Loan Move

Patrick Roberts has cut his loan spell at Norwich short after becoming frustrated at his lack of action for the Carrow Road side. The ex-Celt has instead swapped the Premiership strugglers for Championship strugglers Middlesborough in an attempt to get some game time.

Roberts was recalled when the January transfer window opened as he sought to end his torment in Norfolk. Roberts, who spent two-and-a-half years at Celtic before returning to Man City, made just four appearances for Daniel Farke’s team before Guardiola decided he should return to the Etihad.

Following his £12m move from Fulham, the 22-year-old has been loaned to Celtic, Girona, Norwich and now Middlesborough. His only period of success in his career so far has been his time in Glasgow, which must feel like a lifetime ago.

Roberts’ quality is there for all to see but in the gruelling Premier League, physicality is a trait that Roberts doesn’t possess. He is a luxury player that proved in Scotland what he could do. Could Celtic be worth another crack at the English winger?

Manchester City have clearly got no intention of ever playing Roberts themselves and getting a good price remains their intention so why not take the punt at a couple of million in the summer.

Would you take Roberts back?
