Rodgers Celtic Talks Held With Further Negotiations Planned This Week, Sky Sports Confirm

It is widely known that Brendan Rodgers has held talks with the Celtic board over what would, until recently, have been a shock return to the managerial hotseat at Parkhead. However, it has now emerged that further negotiations between the club’s hierarchy and the Irishman have been penciled in for later this week.

Sky Sports have confirmed as much in a recent report, which states that Rodgers had been intending to have a break from football after his recent Leicester sacking.

Initial talks were held in Mallorca last week and there have been rumours of a meeting between the out of work manager and Dermot Desmond in London today. The latter rumour has not been confirmed, but discussions will be held before the weekend.

It is understood that Celtic see Rodgers as their primary candidate for the role, given his unprecedented domestic success last time around. The league title is as ever Celtic’s priority next season, especially with the amount of money on offer in the revamped Champions League in season 2024/25. Rodgers has a track record of domestic domination and success in Scotland, and will likely be given a handsome budget to ensure he does so again if he takes the role.

The club have also been speaking to other potential replacements for Ange Postecoglou, with Enzo Maresca being a name that is widely speculated in regards to both the Celtic and, ironically, Leicester city jobs.
