Ryan Christie’s future remains undecided but Ange is delighted with his effort

Ryan Christie’s Celtic future remains unresolved but manager Ange Postecoglou has declared that he is delighted with the attacker’s application since he arrived in Glasgow. Postecoglou arrived in June as it appeared evident that Christie would depart this summer; however, no move is yet to transpire. As reported by The Daily Record, Postecoglou was full of praise for the work rate of Christie in training and on match days.

“Ryan is playing and training well – and is pretty good at putting the distractions to one side. If something changes with him in the next few weeks we’ll deal with it.

“But right now, Ryan is contributing to what we are doing and that’s important. He has been really enthusiastic since I’ve been here. He’s been energetic and he always has a smile on his face. That’s all I can ask for.

“I can’t dictate his future but in terms of what he’s doing for me, I couldn’t be happier with him.

“We still need to bring some players in to help with our depth.”

Christie has scored 41 goals and assisted 41 times in 145 games for Celtic, which is quite an impressive return. He appears tailormade for Ange’s style of play, which involves high-intensity running and quality on the ball.  The 26-year-old has just months remaining on his current deal and links have been made with the player and the English Premier League as well as Ligue 1. Although, there was a suggestion that Postecoglou could encourage the player to sign a new deal in order to flourish under his management.

Christie scored in the win over FK Jablonec and he proved his worth coming from the bench. Postecoglou will likely realise that he fits into his system more effectively than David Turnbull but until the midfielder’s future is resolved, he will may continue to be involved from the bench.
