Chris Wilder has been tipped as a potential candidate for the Celtic vacancy. The 53-year-old left his role with the Blades after five years with the side bottom of the Premier League; however, Tom Huddlestone believes that Wilder would be a good match for Celtic.
Speaking to Sky Sports (via The Star), Huddlestone said that he thinks reported Celtic target Eddie Howe would be a candidate for replacing Wilder. Although the Hull City midfielder believes that the Celtic job might appeal to Wilder, giving him the opportunity to re-establish himself as a manager.
“It could be an ideal time for him to take a few months off.
“Obviously, the Celtic job is available in the summer, so I think that’d be a perfect job for him for a couple of years.
“He could try and do something like Brendan Rodgers has done – go up there, re-establish yourself in a different environment and come back to the English leagues as and when you feel a little bit more equipped.”
Wilder led Sheffield United to a 9th place finish last year but the team have failed to reach the heights of the year before. Celtic are currently under the interim management of John Kennedy with Neil Lennon joint favourite for the Sheffield United job.
