Samaras Sunday: Happy New Year To The Men In Hoops

On this date, 2 January 2011, Neil Lennon’s unfancied and injury ravaged team went to Ibrox and turned over Rangers with a superb 2-0 victory.

Samaras started the match and performed absolute heroics as he latched onto Joe Ledley’s delightful long range pass and rounded McGregor to put Celtic in front. Less than ten minutes later the big Greek man was at it again and he outpaced the Rangers back line before being brought down in the penalty area by Bougherra. Sammy then stepped up and slotted the ball into the corner.

It was an unexpected yet fantastic victory for Celtic.

It’s a different Rangers but the same venue this time around. Lenny will be hoping for more of the same, but who will be Celtic’s Samaras this afternoon?
