Scotland Team’s Up – McGregor benched for Faroes Islands Showdown

Scotland need to beat the Faroes Island this evening to maintain pole position in the race for the World Cup play-offs and Steve Clarke has now named his starting eleven, with former Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie getting a start and Celtic captain Callum McGregor resting on the bench, to be introduced if and when he’s required.

With Scotland you can never take anything for granted but after beating Austria in Vienna and coming back from a goal down at the internal against Israel on Saturday, surely Scotland can’t blow it now?

Former Celtic keeper Craig Gordon is in goals. Andy Robertson captains the team as usual and Kieran Tierney also plays. Christie and Jack Hendry are the other former Celts in action from the kick-off in a team that reads:

Craig Gordon, Andy Robertson (captain), Scott McTominay, Grant Hanley, Kieran Tierney, John McGinn, Lyon Dykes, Ryan Christie, Jack Hendry, Billy Gilmour and Ryan Fraser.

Substitute keepers are Liam Kelly and Jon McLaughlin. Outfield subs are Stephen O’Donnell, Callum McGregor, Lewis Ferguson, Scott McKenna, Liam Cooper, Stuart Armstrong, David Turnbull, Kevin Nisbet, Nathan Patterson and Kenny McLean.
