“Scott Brown has been brilliant with me,” Turnbull’s praises Celtic Captain

David Turnbull is the latest player to feature on the club’s official website ahead of tomorrow night’s Premiership match against Hamilton at Celtic Park, as Celtic attempt to get the show back on the road after a dreadful start to the New Year.

With no game at the weekend the squad was working on both Saturday and Sunday at Lennoxtown, perhaps addressing matter such as defending set pieces and corner kicks.

“We’re good, training away as normal and working on parts of the game that we haven’t done in a while,” Turnbull told CelticFC.com. “We’ve not had a game for a week, so we’ve been training and looking to improve. We were in at Lennoxtown on Saturday and Sunday with no game, so we’ve been working towards the game tomorrow.

“In terms of preparation, the staff and the manager show us clips from previous games, and we try to take that onto the training ground – set pieces, attacking play, defensive shape, that kind of thing.”

Both his manager Neil Lennon – who has been a big fan of the former Motherwell midfielder for several years – and Celtic captain Scott Brown have been praised by the £3m summer signing for their efforts in helping him settle into the demands of life as a Celtic player. It can’t have been easy for the new arrivals over the past few months.

“The manager has been great with us, the same every day and he tries to get the most out of the boys,” Turnbull admitted.

“Since I came in, Scott Brown has been brilliant with me, having a laugh off the pitch and giving me pointers and tips here and there on the pitch.

“It’s helped me a lot. Even when I wasn’t playing he was telling me to bide my time. He’s since been willing me on and supporting me, and I think he’s got a big part to play.

“There are positions up for grabs all the time, we have a good strength in depth in this squad and competition is good. There will be games we’ll need him and I’m sure he will be called upon.”
