It seems that Jack Hendry isn’t the only on-loan Celtic player who is currently doing well in Belgium football. Hendry is on loan at Oostende and such is his impact this season they are looking at taking up their £1.75million right to buy option to trigger a permanent transfer. That recoups the sum that Celtic paid to Dundee for the central defender who was capped by Scotland during his time in the Hoops and will be looking at impressing Steve Clarke ahead of this summer’s Euros.
But the other Celt in Belgium – Marian Shved initially struggled to settle in Belgium for his season long loan at Mechelen, with his manager at the end of last year complaining about his attitude and lack of commitment and threatening to send him back to Glasgow in the New Year.
That seemed to have kick-started Shved’s season. The Ukrainian winger has now started the last four matches for Mechelen and as Lewis Laird reports in his excellent Loan Update feature on Twitter, has just scored one and made one to give Mechelen a 2-0 lead in their game against Waasland-Beveren!
The goal from Marian Shved to give Mechelen a two goal lead against Waasland-Beveren
A well take goal by the Ukrainian winger, dinking it over the keeper. Very similar to Bayo’s last week 😂 pic.twitter.com/FxKJUhZ0hB
