SempreMilan’s reaction to Celtic defeat at San Siro

SEMPREMILAN have kindly shared their thoughts with us after last night’s game between Celtic and AC Milan in Italy. As one of the leading Italian sites covering Milan, they watched on as Celtic started brightly scoring two goals within the first 15 mins. However, the Serie A league leaders struck back – scoring four as Celtic’s performance level dipped back to something that was more in keeping with the last few weeks.

Oli from SempreMilan gave us his review of the game, touching on some Celtic standouts and looking at two players that Milan were likely to be interested in – Kris Ajer and their own Diego Laxalt.

“I was very worried after the start we made and when Kjaer went off. Krunic who gave the ball away for both goals usually plays as a winger so starting him in holding midfield was a risk that backfired. Thought Celtic were actually very bright but can see why the defensive record is so poor.

“Rogic and Christie were the stand outs for me, Edouard would also clearly finish more chances if he got them.

“Ajer again for me looked like the one holding the back four together but I’m not sure how much of that is down to him actually being a very gifted defender and how much of it is just him having a big frame and looking so much better than the others.

“We were waiting for a breakout game for Hauge after two goals off the bench and it came because Elhamed was left in isolation quite a bit, though there was nothing anyone could do about the third goal regardless of what Chris Sutton said on commentary. I had heard before the game that Bitton was meant to be suspect, though he didn’t look terrible individually and appeared to be the victim of a back four all over the place.

“As for Laxalt, he clearly wanted to prove a point against us and was up and down the left side, keeping Dalot pinned back again, but he just wouldn’t get in our side at the moment.”

Neil Lennon has won just two games out of eleven and the speculation has heightened around his future. Instead of communicating with the support, the club very snidely increased barriers around the stadium in anticipation of a protest at the club at the weekend.
