Celtic’s Scottish Cup Campaign: “It’s nice to get into a new cup having just won one,” Tyler Toland…

Tyler Toland reckons that Celtic’s League Cup triumph from last month will add to the motivation in the Celtic FC Women squad to add more silverware in the second half of the season. The Scottish Cup returns today after a few seasons absence – another victim of the dreaded Covid pandemic – and the former Manchester City midfielder, who was a SWPL title winner last season while on loan at Glasgow City, is looking to complete the set by picking up a Scottish Cup medal.

Speaking to Colette Carr at the official Celtic FC Women’s website the 20 year-old summer signing can’t wait to get back in action although she’ll have to wait just a little bit longer as  Celtic’ Scottish Cup opener away to Edinburgh City at Foresters Park, Tranent on Sunday afternoon HAS BEEN POSTPONED.

“We’re really looking forward to it,” Tyler said. “We’ve been working hard these past two weeks since we’ve been in and really focussing on this game. It’s another trophy we can win and all focus is on the weekend and hopefully we can get the win.

“I think it’s nice to get into a new cup having just won one before Christmas. It’s nice to start a new campaign now – it was good to get home and see the family, but the head’s back on the pitch now and I’m fully focused for the weekend.

“The knockout competitions have a different buzz from the league because it is winner takes all on the day and you need to show up, be determined to win and be professional,” she said.

Winning the League Cup simply gives whets the appetite for more silverware and before setting about attempting to close a gap on both theRangers and Glasgow City in the SWPL, today it’s all about progressing in the Scottish Cup for Fran Alonso’s charges.

Toland explained: “It’s very important; it’s brought a good morale to the team and brought us a lot closer together and having that taste of success now, that is what we’re striving for and we want more. You treat every game as a cup final – we don’t know what to expect from this team but we’ll do our analysis so we just need to focus on getting that job done.”
