Celtic announce signing as Postecoglou gets his business done early

Celtic have completed the signing of Johnny Kenny from Sligo Rovers. The highly-rated attacker joins on a five year deal, subject to the usual conditions. The Irish youngster was announced by Celtic earlier this evening and will cost around £125,000.

Kenny becomes the second signing from the League of Ireland and is expected to be involved in Celtic’s B Team.

The Irish league appears to be a focus for a number of clubs with youngsters being eyed for moves across the Irish Sea in the hope that they can unearth the next top talent from Ireland. Celtic’s decision to sign Liam Scales is the first of potentially many acquisitions from the League of Ireland. In 34 appearances, Kenny has found the net 12 times as well as managing 3 assists.

Ange Postecoglou has already signed three players as Celtic continue to get their business done early. Hatate, Ideguchi and Maeda are already in training as the boss looks to get his team into shape ahead of a tilt for the title.
