It came as no surprise to learn that Brendan Rodgers has been charged by the governing body after his critical comments regarding the performance of the match officials in the wake of our defeat at Tynecastle on Sunday.
Brendan was particularly vocal about the part played by John Beaton who of course was on VAR duties.
The Celtic manager was one hundred percent correct in what he said. “You would have to ask John Beaton” were the words that have seen him fall foul of the beaks. That and accusing Beaton of “incompetence” – something many Celtic fans will dispute, thinking Beaton’s actions were calculated to achieve a desired outcome and this was competently achieved by theRangers supporter on VAR duties.
Just imagine how Fergus McCann would have reacted to this latest incident.
Beaton was highly influential in swaying the on field referee into awarding a very questionable spot kick. Sorry questionable is the wrong word, it was the wrong call.
Even the much maligned biased Scottish football pundits have been unanimous in their disbelief that the decision was awarded and that in itself tells its own story. Even Kris Boyd said it was a shocking decision from his fellow Bear.
Surely Brendan asking for answers is not worthy of a sit down with the governing body and a likely touchline ban. Particularly when you consider the leniency that has been shown to rival a rival manager in the not too distant past for saying much worse. That’s you Philippe Clement!
Even one football club asking for a referee to be removed from taking part in any of their matches is seen as ok by the same body who deem Brendan’s comments a punishable offence.
The timing of the sit down is also a suspect. The 28 March is the date penciled in. That is three weeks away, and conveniently just in time for the Glasgow Derby which Brendan will have to sit out if found guilty.
All this because the ball struck the back of Tomoki Iwata’s arm when he has facing the other way with his eyes shut.
They can haul players up in front of the beaks just days after a game, but not managers, that’s rather strange. It’s all rather convenient that Brendan is looking at a ban just a couple of weeks before the most vital game of our season.
I hope the club back him to the hilt and fight any ban that may be forthcoming. A ban that would be totally unjust. Celtic should not be on the defensive here in the face of an attack on our manager and our football club. Celtic must go on the offensive and call out the corruption in the Scottish game.
And if Celtic beat Livingston at the weekend the supporters must consider our own protest options for the semi-final at Hampden.

It like the SFA untouchable can’t take them to court so they have to swear on a bible if the lie they will be charged .but this is a group who’s head once run hibs and you know he would rather sell his players players leave away from spl than sell to teams especially Celtic FC the man is out to show no Club us bigger than SFA even though that Club brings so much money and prestige to scottish football hampden park has millions thrown at it cause SFA want there offices there and hospitality suits nothing to do with history uts a terrible for fans viewing they have to big stadiums in glasgow that could accommodate scottish international and are far better than hampden plus they have Edinburgh rugby stadium Spain has no international stadium money for hampden could have academy’s funded all over Scotland but SFA wanted there offices abd there hospitality suites at hampden for such a small country I’d like to know how many sfa blazers benefit from money spent on hampden
It’s their ball and their rules but we really need to become more astute when dealing with these “peeple”.
Celtic TV should have a dedicated “inconsistencies” aspect to it, where odd, strange, and even unexplainable decisions are analysed and compared to comparable incidents where the outcome was different.
As odd as this may seem, we should ask Bobby Madden now an ex referee, to justify these decisions. We could keep a running total, displaying the amount of points dropped throughout a season similar to the “Celtic by Numbers” website.
We could even ask Crawford Allan on and, every week when he refuses, say that the SFA were asked to attend but declined or didn’t respond yet add we’re sure he’ll appear as soon as Kyogo scores a marginal goal.
They could charge the club with bringing the game jnto disrepute but our defence would be we’re filling an information vacuum which the SFA have created.
