Sky Sports tribute to Shane MacGowan after Celtic win

Sky Sports paid tribute to the late, great Shane MacGowan at the end of their coverage of Celtic’s win over St Johnstone. The Scottish Champions ran out 3-1 winners at McDiarmid Park as they opened up an eleven point lead on Rangers, who are playing St Mirren this afternoon.

In the Outro, Sky selected ‘Fiesta’ by The Pogues to the compilation of the big moments from the game as Celtic came from behind to beat the Saints. The tune is used as one of the tracks from Celtic Park when goals are scored.

The Pogues signer passed away on Thursday aged 65 after a short illness. Shane was a big Celtic fan and it was a nice moment as his song was played days after his death. His music, style and persona was legendary and, aside from one of the greatest Christmas songs ever, The Pogues and MacGowan had loads of great music.

Celtic came from a goal down before Callum McGregor, Matt O’Riley and James Forrest brought all three points back to Paradise.
