Celtic’s Mainstream media chums’ focus is all on the disgusting behaviour from one Celtic supporter, but the home supporters slur on Jock Stein was just as bad, all in front of his close friend Sir Alex Ferguson…
Much was made of a disgraceful reference from one of our own supporters in Sunday’s dramatic Glasgow Derby, to the number of fatalities at the Ibrox Disaster in January 1971 and rightly so. No one should be making fun of such a terrible tragedy, but various other disgusting chants were conveniently ignored from the vicinity of the home crowd.
The usual sectarian and racist chants were sung loud and proud, but some other chanting was just as disturbing, and it wasn’t just a minority who were guilty of revelling in the appalling crime that is child abuse and proclaiming that they’re up to their knees in other people’s blood. Yes, grown men and women were gleefully heard point scoring at the expense of the numerous victims who have experienced the unimaginable trauma of childhood sexual abuse and indulging collectively in a hate crime by belting out The Billy Bhoys.
Imagine glorifying the most disturbing, disgusting and depraved heinous crimes, all in the name of hateful banter? That’s exactly what we were subjected to at Ibrox on Sunday, and it was a major stain on the Scottish game, not that you will see it condemned or taken to task by any of our prominent members of the SMSM.
The Ibrox Ultras, the collective group of lowlifes known as the Union Bears also displayed a banner disrespecting the memory of our own Jock Stein, a living legend of the Scottish game. The very same Jock Stein who graciously and unselfishly came to the aid of the many supporters who were victims of the fatal and tragic Ibrox disaster.
Furthermore, in attendance at Ibrox was guest of honour, the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson a man who considered Jock a mentor and close friend, who would have in no doubt been appalled by the degrading slur aimed at Jock by their have-filled support.
What one individual Celtic supporter did was totally unacceptable, and should be called out. So should the vast majority of the home support for indulging in sick and warped behaviour as well as degrading the good name of a Scottish footballing legend. The vast majority of theRangers support sang the racist, outlawed Billy Boys chant. Where’s the criticism of that? And there were other sectarian banners on display away from the Union Bears, including the disturbingly sectarian banner in front of those old Bears shown above.
In the build-up to the match on Sunday a number of theRangers players including Raskin and some non-entity that they signed in January whose name escapes me, talked about their HATRED of Celtic. That’s extraordinary but passes without comment from the hacks, the same ones Celtic suck up to.
Don’t expect to see any of this disgraceful behaviour by the home support at Ibrox being called out by Celtic’s mainstream media chums like the Scottish Sun and Daily Record who piled into the Celtic supporter disrespecting the Ibrox disaster victims story but have had nothing to say on anything that majority of theRangers supporters did to disgrace themselves.
Have you noticed how Sky Sports always apologise when there’s swearing from the home fans when covering St Mirren’s home matches. Where were the apologies on Sunday for the racism being belted out that they were broadcasting.
No wonder theRangers supporters are known as Scotland’s Shame.
