Southampton open to Fraser Forster’s Celtic transfer

SOUTHAMPTON manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has revealed that the Premier League club are open to a permanent deal for Fraser Forster. The 32-year-old has been the subject of a great deal of speculation in the last few days but his future still remains up in the air. Despite Forster not wanting a loan move, Hasenhuttl did say that the goalie wanted something concrete and this could still mean a move to Celtic.

As reported by the Scottish Sun, Forster’s situation was discussed by the Saints manager as he looks to sort out where the player’s future lies.

“We have not decided what we do next season with our plans in this direction.

“Of our loan players, some did a very good job and it’s also clear that loan players don’t want to go again on loan.

“Normally they want to go permanently somewhere and we will find the right solution for every player in the summer.

“When the right moment is to discuss it, then we do it.”

Forster is keen for the move to transpire and Celtic themselves are determined to sign Forster but will look at alternatives should no deal transpire. The report cites a Southampton source that claims that the club are willing to sell Forster.

Forster was unwilling to return should it be a temporary move and would rather remain at Southampton if this is the only alternative but appears to still be in favour of a Celtic permanent move.

The Englishman is on a reported £90k-per-week at Saints and Celtic may need to pay up to £5m as well as making him one of the club’s top earners. A deal could yet be done but Celtic if Fraser Forster is to return to the club, it will be on a permanent basis and the club need to pay up for his services.

Moi Elyounoussi has already agreed a year long stay but it appears that there are plenty more twists and turns before Forster’s future is decided.
