St Mirren 0 Celtic 0 – Thoughts on the supporters bus back home

Ponderous in Paisley – not quite sleepless in Seattle, but Celtic’s performance was laboured and slow. Again, we lacked the tenacity to break down a well organised and physical outfit.

Brendan Rodgers and the team need to be able to adapt when a team creates a narrow block in between defence and midfield. We have the players to play this attractive football but we need to be able to play a gritty, hardened game now and again.

Hero to zero. After the confidence and class displayed by Olivier Ntcham in the 1-0 drubbing of Rangers, Ntcham had a night to forget under the lights in Paisley. Two yellow cards in quick succession sentences the young Frenchman to an early bath. Horrible decision making led to Celtic being reduced to ten men for the majority of the match.

First-choice Striker? The question that Brendan Rodgers will have to wrestle with is who will lead the line for Celtic versus Rosenborg on Thursday night. Odsonne Edouard struggled to be involved tonight and Leigh Griffiths made slightly more of an impact but neither were impressive during a low-key performance.

One point from six on the road is nowhere near good enough.

Highlight of the night was the supporters’ banner in praise of Leigh Griffiths…
