Steven Gerrard has rejected the opportunity to return to theRangers. The Liverpool legend was expected to replace Russell Martin; who oversaw a disastrous start to the campaign…

Gerrard has, however, decided against pitting himself against Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic as he looks to get his managerial career back on track. The 45-year-old had held talks with the Rangers board in London and it has been suggested that talks had been progressing.

Despite the claims on social media from Rangers fans about Gerrard’s imminent return, the ex-Liverpool captain has decided that it is not the right move for him, likely owing to the precarious position that he finds himself in after being sacked from Aston Villa and Al Ettifaq.

Rodgers will have relished the opportunity to face off against his former captain. Although, the decision from Gerrard will leave theRangers board scrambling as it was clear that he was their first pick. It is believed that he withdrew from contention in the summer too, which resulted in Martin’s appointment.
Celtic face theRangers in the Premier Sports Cup Semi Final next month at Hampden Park. This is a repeat of last season’s final, in which Celtic triumphed on penalties.

All the “ITK”s are rapidly deleting their “Steven Gerrard is coming home” or “It’s Gerrard!” posts. 😂
Imagine telling Celtic fans all week that he’s coming back to “end Celtic’s dominance” — after winning one trophy in nine attempts — only for Gerrard to knock Rangers back and… pic.twitter.com/QPQht0BfK9

I’ve got great respect for The Rangers Review but…
Friday: “We expect Steven Gerrard to be the new Rangers manager. We will be surprised if Gerrard is not the next Rangers manager.”
Saturday: “Steven Gerrard will not be the next Rangers manager.”

One of the truly great days on here. Steven ‘the messiah’ Gerrard choosing to continue being on the dole instead of taking over again at Castle Greyskull after the clamour for a 1 in 9 winner from their fans. Succulent.

🤣
Yep. He shat it.
I don’t know where this story has come from but i’m not entirely convinced there’s any truth in it.
I’ve even seen one hun-site state confidently “HE’S BACK” written above a picture of him.
What an utter embarrassment if it is true. Humiliation borne from desperation. LOL!
