Stevie Hammell is a good appointment by Celtic

There was a bit of panicking for a brief few seconds when Celtic supporters heard that Stevie Hammell had been announced as a coach at the club, worry not though as it’s at youth level.

The former Motherwell manager has been tasked with running our youth squads working under Chris McCart. His appointment was backed by none other than the departing Ange Postecoglou, and that’s a decent nod of approval indeed.

READ THIS…Celtic appoint Stevie Hammell as New Head of Academy Coaching

This looks like being a great appointment by the club as Stevie is an experienced coach who is highly regarded for his work in youth development at Motherwell, he also had a spell last season as Motherwell number one, and although it wasn’t a success, the experience he gained will be invaluable to him.

Stevie was a good player and now a looks like being a great coach. That can only be a good thing for the youngsters at the Celtic Academy to have such an experienced and talented coach guiding them.

Youth level is an important factor at most clubs nowadays and Celtic is no different. The appointment of Stevie is a good one, all the best Stevie.
