A recent study by CIES Football Observatory has revealed that Celtic were in the top 50 of football clubs in the world when it comes to making a profit in the past decade.
The Hoops were the only top flight club in the UK to make a profit, and only one of three along with English Championship sides Norwich and Swansea.
Celtic made £15 net profit in the last calendar year due to the sales of Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis. In total the club have made a healthy profit of £33 million this past decade.

That’s very impressive indeed and shows that our player trading model is serving us well. It still pales into significance against the likes of Ajax and Benfica who posted ten year profits of £434 million and £764 million respectively, but shows we are still doing the right thing all the same.
The next set of financial figures should look just as healthy when you take the Jota and Carl Starfelt transfer fees into consideration. Yes, we’ve spent a few quid on backing Brendan Rodgers, but the incoming funds will cover it and more.

It might be something of a pain that the club don’t splash out as much as we’d like, but this study proves that we are a very well run indeed. We are miles ahead on the park as well as off it.
We are clearly doing something right, unlike our most recent opponents who would surely find themselves near or at the top of a similar study looking at the worst run clubs what with their ‘club’ ‘surviving’ both administration then liquidation (no laughing at the back), shedding tens of millions of unpaid debt in the process due to the face-painter to HMRC. Lest they forget.
