Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos has said that Vasilis Barkas is running out of time at Celtic and may need to seal a loan move in the summer to kickstart his career after a torrid season in Glasgow. The £4.5m signing from AEK Athens has struggled since joining the 9IAR Champions.
Barkas hasn’t played since the 2-2 draw versus Livingston with Scott Bain coming back into the fold. Barkas has played 20 games this season and has endured scathing criticisms from supporters and pundits but he has been unfortunate in the fact he has been playing in front of defences that are hastily strung together.
Barkas was not in Celtic squad v Ross County. Seems, he's running out of time in Celtic Park. On loan in summer transfer window is possible. Greece is NOT an option at the moment#Celtic #CelticFC #Barkas

Chorianopoulos kept us in the loop about Barkas’ signing for Celtic as well as detailing that Nicky Hammond personally scouted the Greek International goalkeeper.
Celtic have played three goalies since Craig Gordon and Fraser Forster left. Two players that trained with Forster last season – Scott Bain and Conor Hazard played as makeshift No.1s, replacing Vasilis Barkas who was meant to be the like-for-like replacement.
Hopefully Barkas can show his worth and come good, proving people that he was worth the fee paid out last summer. If he does leave the club, Celtic will need to sign a new No.1 as neither Bain nor Hazard appear to be good enough to regularly hold down a starting role.
He’s on his way and so should whoever put him forward as a goal keeper…sums up the whole season.
