Video: Leigh Griffiths Scores His First Goal For Celtic, On This Day 2014

On this day in 2014, Leigh Griffiths scored his first goal in Celtic colours. Little did we know that the Leith man would go on to score over 100 more for the Hoops.

Celtic had travelled to Tynecastle that afternoon, where a determined Hearts team lay in wait. Fraser Forster broke the Scottish record for the most number of minutes without conceding a goal, 43 years on from Bobby Clark at Aberdeen. Moments later, Anthony Stokes flighted a ball over the top with the outside of his boot and Leigh Griffiths turned his man before smashing the ball low into the net. It was an incredible goal, made that bit sweeter by the fact that it came against the rivals of his boyhood heroes.

Current Norwich star Teemu Pukki added a second after good work from Amido Balde, and Celtic headed back to Glasgow with all three points in the bag.
