Neil Lennon confirmed that Leigh Griffiths, Tom Rogic and Mikey Johnston could feature for the Scottish Champions on Sunday in the Premiership match against Motherwell at Celtic Park.
In his Media Conference today, the Celtic manager spoke about utilising his squad on Sunday on the back of the monumental victory in Rome last night.
“Griffiths could feature. Rogic we’re hoping will be back and Mikey has a small chance too.
“Hatem will get a scan tomorrow but we don’t think he’ll be fit for the game,” Lenny revealed.
Elhamed went off injured after extending to intercept the ball during a Lazio attack and had to be replaced by Nir Bitton. The manager confirmed that the right-back won’t make the visit of Motherwell.
“With Elhamed we don’t know the prognosis of that just yet. If we can scan him now there will still be a lot of bleeding around the muscle area so we’ll maybe scan him tomorrow and see the extent of it but I would doubt that he’ll be fit for the weekend.”
Elhamed’s absence means that either Jeremie Frimpong – who was not listed in the Europa League squad – or Mauritz Bauer will start on the right side of defence when Stephen Robinson’s men visit Glasgow’s East End.
Lennon teased that Griffiths could feature for the first time since 25 August, potentially giving Odsonne Edouard some much needed rest time.
Tom Rogic didn’t travel to Italy after picking up a knock to his knee in the game against Hibs in the Betfred Cup semi-final at Hampden; although Lennon has suggested that he could be back in the squad for Sunday.
Meanwhile, Mikey Johnston has been sidelined since Celtic won at Ibrox on Beautiful Sunday at the start of September.
