Superb data find shows that Ange is worse than Lennon…

Who’d have thought it, eh?

After all the promise Ange Postecoglou has shown, and all the demise and dourness that Neil Lennon brought to the club in his second spell, recent stats by InStat via The Daily Record have shown that Lennon’s side actually defended much better and gained better results, even in the 10-in-a-row shocker season.

Fans congregated outside Celtic Park in November last season after Ross County’s surprise win in the League Cup – given that fans couldn’t make their voices heard due to no crowds being allowed in, this was the best way to convey their anger at Lennon’s miserable style of football.

Yet, new data taken from InStat has actually defended the Northern Irishman – with the defensive steelwork that Ange has laid down bearing an acrid taste in the mouths of every disappointed Celtic fan.

Shots faced by Celtic this season…
Shots faced by the same point last season, with 35 fewer shots and nine few goals

This season, Ange’s men have faced 122 shots – which is a huge, huge increase of 40.22%, one that is especially bad given just how poor Lennon’s men were last season.

And having also conceded nine more goals than the uninspiring performances last season, this will give greater cause for concern amongst the Celtic Park faithful.

It isn’t even just those two stats which should be noted; you can clearly see that a high concentration of the shots faced in the box occur against Ange’s defence, with a similar number of shots outside the area faced in Lennon’s tenure – meaning the quality of chances conceded is much, much greater.

Something to think about then!
