Some say that Nancy can be successful with the right players, but the chances are he won’t get them. Until he gets the chance to sign players to suit his system he should use a system to suit the current squad…

It’s been suggested that Wilfried Nancy can still be a successful Celtic manager, something I just can’t bring myself to believe, with Wednesday night’s defeat at Tannadice yet another damning indictment of his credentials to do the job.
He does not have available players to suit his system yet he persists with this 45 minute okay performance and 45 minutes of calamity in each game. Sometimes the first half is okay (3/4) and once against Roma it was the second half when the Italians had already achieved their objectives.
Nancy and the January transfer window
If it was up to me he would be gone, but he’s still here, as the board have refused to admit their latest mistake by deciding to back their man. However for him to have a chance of succeeding they need to do something they fail to do on a regular basis, and that is put our money firmly where their mouth is.

It’s the only way to prove me and many others majorly wrong. If they want him to be the successful man they fully believe he is capable of being, then they are going to have to supply him with the proper quality to fulfil his tactical philosophy which so far has failed against Hearts, Roma, St Mirren and Dundee United across three competitions.
Rodgers expected to be back but was left frustrated
That makes the upcoming window and the summer one for that matter ever so vital for Nancy, in that he’s given the support that his predecessor Brendan Rodgers was denied, by being handed the quality signings needed to improve the team.
Then maybe just maybe could the Frenchman stamp his authority on the squad, and put together something that resembles a solid football side. A team that can win as well as entertain. That I assume is the ultimate vision for the manager who as a player almost signed for Carlisle.

Although that’s a big if, as I have much faith in this board as I have with Nancy. Time and time again they have failed to recruit the right quality of player to enhance our side. Is this next window going to be any different?
Nancy engulfed by the demands of managing Celtic
Even if he is backed, then I have still have my doubts, as Nancy seems to have already become engulfed by the sheer demands of being manager of Celtic Football Club. He looks lost, and more worryingly he doesn’t possess that winning attitude and mentality, plus it’s quite clear that he’s lost the dressing room – and the away support.
The ‘Nancy, Nancy get to France,’ chant at Tannadice on Wednesday night didn’t come from the ultras at the end of the ground where all three goals were scored and where the Ultras were in panto-mode alongside the Chris McKay and his boardroom colleagues. It came from the other side and behind the other goal. Nancy had lost the supporters buses.

Season ticket holders will have their say on Sunday
On Sunday we’ll find out what season ticket holders think. Aberdeen lost away from home in the Conference League last night so they too will have heavy legs at the weekend, which is a straw to cling to.
We’ll hear from Wilfried Nancy today but as is now the case there will be no fan media there. Given the conferences he’s held so far we’ve not missed much. In the manager’s defence he can only answer questions that he’s been asked by the mainstream media.
