Tash Flint returns to Liverpool as Celtic loan deal ends

Loan striker Tash Flint has today confirmed on Instagram that she will be leaving Celtic and returning to Liverpool, leaving the ball in Celtic’s court if they wish to contact their colleagues at Anfield with a proposal to sign the Goal Machine on a permanent basis.

In an Instagram post, Tash said: “Celtic, thank you again for everything! Another short stay but it’s been amazing. Thank you. Also, let’s not forget… History has been made.”

Joining Celtic on loan in January, the striker managed to grab 11 goals and three assists in 14 league appearances. She re-integrated into the squad well and slotted right back into what would turn out to be a title-winning Celtic side.

Of course, this wasn’t Tash’s first time in the Hoops as she joined up with Fran Alonso’s Celtic side in January of the 2022/23 campaign. Joining from Leicester City, she was a standout performer and helped the Ghirls secure silverware, scoring the opener in the Scottish Cup final triumph against theRangers last May.

She was signed on a permanent deal by her childhood club, Liverpool, upon completion of her first Celtic loan deal. She never really managed to break into the Liverpool first team, managing just ten appearances in the Women’s Super League. She returns to Merseyside hoping that her impressive second stint in Glasgow will give her a chance to show what she’s really about across the border.

No doubt conversations will be had, especially if Celtic do make a move, and if first team football is not on the table at Liverpool then perhaps a third Celtic return could be on the cards.

It’s likely that Tash still has at least one more year left on her contract with the Reds so I expect Celtic have to pay a decent transfer fee to bring the Goal machine back to the club. With Champions League football on offer, and with two brilliant stints at Celtic in her career, Tash may come to the conclusion that she’s found a footballing home at Celtic Park.

Or, who knows, maybe we’ll see her back in January…

But if that’s that as far as Celtic is concerned, thanks for your amazing contribution both times around Tash and best of luck back at Liverpool.
