Team’s Up – Benzema starts as Ancelotti names strong Real Madrid XI

Carlo Ancelotti has named his starting XI for tonight’s game against Celtic at Paradise. Don Carlo may have recognised that he cannot take any chances resting players ahead of tonight’s Champions League opener against Celtic.

The Italian manager has brought AC Milan team here before so he will have briefed his players on what to expect from the supporters with his coaches likely talking about how Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic will look at getting at them with their sharp attacking football.

In goals, former Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois starts. The Belgian No.1 was outstanding last season as Madrid progressed to the final, where they beat Liverpool.

Dani Carvajal will play at right-back with Ferland Mendy operating on the left. Between them, the defensive pairing of David Alaba and Eder Militao.

In the middle of the park, Aurelien Tchouameni slots into the holding role surrounded by decorated duo Toni Kross and Luca Modric.

In attack, Federico Valverde starts on the right with Vinicius Jnr on the left. Through the middle, French superstar Karim Benzema leads the line.

The game kicks off at 8pm (Celtic Park time) with the game being shown on BT Sport 3 for those unable to attend.
