Team’s Up – Celtic Team to Face Copenhagen

Neil Lennon has named a changed team from the XI that defied the conditions to win 2-1 at Pittodrie on Sunday. Lennon has decided to revisit the 4-2-3-1 formation ahead of tonight’s match with Copenhagen in the Europa League Round of 32.

Greg Taylor and Leigh Griffiths were left behind due to injury and they drop out of the side that won in Aberdeen on Sunday as does Israeli defender Nir Bitton, who takes his place on the bench.

Fraser Forster starts in goals for the Scottish Champions in Denmark tonight and he has Christopher Jullien and Kris Ajer with Jeremie Frimpong and Jonny Hayes operating on the flanks as Celtic switch to a four at the back. The returning Frimpong comes in for Bitton as Celtic adopt a more conventional shape against the Danish Champions whilst Hayes replaces the injured Taylor as he did in the first half at Pittodrie.

In midfield, captain Scott Brown starts beside Callum McGregor in midfield with Olivier Ntcham playing slightly ahead of the pair. There’s no room for Moi Elyounoussi on the left as Lennon has opted to go with James Forrest meaning that Ryan Christie will take his place on the right of the Celtic midfield.

Upfront for Celtic is our talisman, Odsonne Edouard, who will be hoping to continue his fine form with a goal to boost Celtic’s chances of making the Round of 16.

On the bench for Celtic tonight: Scott Bain, Nir Bitton, Boli Bolingoli, Tom Rogic, Moi Elyounoussi, Jozo Simunovic and Vakoun Bayo.

EDITOR’S TAKE ON THE TEAM NEWS

JEREMIE FRIMPONG returns to the Celtic line-up to play Copenhagen in the Europa League and Jonny Hayes starts on the left hand side of the Celtic defence, with Greg Taylor remaining behind in Glasgow. Sunday’s winning goal hero Kris Ajer plays alongside Christopher Jullien in the centre of the Celtic defence and Fraser Forster, as usual, is in goals.

Ryan Christie is also back in the starting eleven – probably playing on the right in a 4-2-3-1 with Ntcham in the middle and James Forrest on the left, these three ahead of the vastly experienced duo of Scott Brown and Callum McGregor.

Odsonne Edouard is the striker and the subs are Bain, Simunovic, Bitton, Bayo, Rogic, Bolingoli and Elyounoussi. It’s an attack minded side and Neil Lennon clearly fancies our chances.
