Team’s Up – First team quartet given run out against Ayr United

Celtic first team quartet Mikey Johnston, Marco Tilio, Kwon and Yuki Kobayashi have been named in the Celtic XI that faces Ayr United for Michael Moffat’s Testimonial. The three players have been working back from injuries this summer and they will be keen to get some match sharpness in with a view to boosting their chances of getting back into Brendan Rodgers’ first team.

Celtic XI: Morrison, Dede, Frame, Bonetig, Kobayashi, Kwon, Tilio, Kelly, Vata, Carse (C), M. Johnston.

Subs: McLean, Agbaire, Robertson, Cummings, Mackenzie, Bonnar, Quinn, Dobbie, Davidson.

Earlier this week, Johnston was named on the bench for Celtic in the game against Feyenoord in Rotterdam. However, he was not included in the squad yesterday at the Tony Macaroni Arena. The trio will want to get themselves fit and firing in the hope that they can push themselves into the manager’s thinking moving forward. Also included is summer signing Kwon, who first appeared against Wolves in Dublin. He was solid that day but a patchy friendly outing against Atletico Bilbao had him on the periphery of the squad.

Tilio is yet to make his Celtic debut after making a £2m switch from Melbourne City over the summer. The tricky Australian has been training with the first team and will fancy getting his debut shortly, even if neither he nor Kobayashi are in the Champions League squad.
