Brendan Rodgers has named his Celtic team for this evening’s game against St Johnstone. The Scottish Champions have arrived at McDiarmid Park as they look to regain their place at the top of the Premiership table, with Aberdeen currently winning at Dens Park.
The manager has decided to restore a number of first team starters after making a number of changes for the League Cup win over Falkirk.
In goals, Kasper Schmeichel continues.
The back four comprises of Alistair Johnston, Auston Trusty, Liam Scales and Greg Taylor.
In the midfield, Callum McGregor skippers the side and is joined by Paulo Bernardo and Arne Engels.
In attack, Kyogo starts through the middle with Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kühn out wide.
Subs: Sinisalo, Idah, Valle, Yang, McCowan, Nawrocki, Hatate, Forrest & Ralston
The real talking point is the decision to start Bernardo with CalMac and Engels, meaning Hatate misses out. The Japanese star may very well be subject to management from Brendan, especially with Tuesday’s game against Dortmund in the Champions League.
Clearly it is a strong team and proves that the manager is taking no chances domestically. The plan will be to get a stranglehold of the game before being able to utilise the bench.
