Terms agreed: No Celtic return for goalkeeper as he agrees terms with Derby County

Celtic’s goalkeeping position should be sorted after the signing of Barkas, but he’s still untested at this level and it would make sense for the club to have a decent back up.

Scott Bain hasn’t impressed enough when he’s given a chance, and the Greek stopper could need some time to adapt, so having an experienced short term option to turn to could’ve made a lot of sense.

HITC recently indicated that Marshall was very interested in returning to the club, and he would’ve been a good addition to the squad.

He’s experienced and still capable of playing at a high level, while he’s not a long term option so Barkas would still know that the starting spot would be his in the long term.

That move won’t be happening after The BBC reported that he’s agreed terms with Derby County, after he was released from Wigan due to their relegation.

Re-signing Marshall may not have been that exciting but signing a back up goalkeeper never is, and at least this would be a nice story where his career came full circle.

The squad is fine for now but the position would be stretched if any injuries or suspensions were to strike, so we should still expect some kind of signing to be made in the next few weeks.
