“The club needs to be united. We need everyone together pushing forward,” Callum McGregor

Callum McGregor is playing a crucial role on and off the park this season and you could see the former on Saturday evening at St Mirren Park with that important last minute winner and what a goal that it was…

Martin O’Neill later talked about the brilliant reception the skipper was given by the players when he made it into the dressing room.

Going back a few weeks to when Brendan Rodgers left the club, Callum spoke brilliantly on the exiting Celtic boss and talked about him raising standards across his two spells in charge, winning 11 from the 13 trophies he competed in as Celtic manager. McGregor didn’t fall with the club’s party line, in the from of a dictat from the club’s principal shareholder Dermot Desmond.

Instead he spoke highly of Rodgers the man and the manager and posted out that the squad hasn’t been strengthened and therein lies the problem.

But with Brendan away and Martin O’Neill brought in as a temporary replacement – for two more games folks – the Celtic captain immediately impressed the interim boss and has continued to do so, scoring sensational and important goals against theRangers at Hampden and St Mirren on Saturday night.

And as we’ve come to expect Callum spoke brilliantly to Sky Sports after the crucial 1-0 in Paisley that cut Hearts’ lead to just four points and having lost on Sunday up at Aberdeen, Celtic now has a game in hand, caused incidentally because Hearts played Dundee when we were beating theRangers at Hampden in the premier Sports Cup semi-final.

“The club needs to be united. We need everyone together pushing forward,” the Celtic captain said.
“Celtic is built on massive success and unity. The quicker that we put this behind us, get a permanent manager and keep winning matches, hopefully that will realign everyone.

“We want to get to the place we want to be and that’s winning. This was a big win for us and we just kept going and going against a very tough team. The boys are working so hard and I am so glad we got the rewards.

“This is a crucial period and I am so happy to get three points. For the goal, the ball broke and I knew I was in space. It was a nice strike, similar to theRangers goal, and thankfully it went in.

“Could we look back on this win at the end of the season? Yeah, but there is so much football to be played. This is always a tough game. Getting out with a point here isn’t a bad result, but I am so happy we got three.

“Hopefully this can galvanise the players and supporters at a crucial time for the club. We have a big week and we need to keep it going,” Calmac said.

  1. So to those people out there currently masquerading as Celtic supporters, what our captain it telling you is, it’s time to REALLY show if you care about the club!
You can start by spitting out those dummies! Grow up, shut up and listen. Put your points forward to the board in a professional manner, LIKE GROWN UP PEOPLE, let the players know you are behind them IN GOOD TIMES AND BAD, stop reacting to things you hear from haters like an EX MANAGER WHO HAS NOW STABBED US IN THE BACK TWICE, a man who should NEVER have been trusted again.
COME ON GUYS! LISTEN TO OUR CAPTAIN!
