‘The only rational thing Steven Gerrard has said this week is that they played the best team in the country on Sunday’ Lenny

CELTIC manager Neil Lennon isn’t holding back in his press conference which is ongoing at the moment, ahead of tomorrow’s sold-out Premiership match against Livingston, the final league match before the split.

The SPFL are planning to release the post-split figures this afternoon. Celtic will have two home matches, against Hearts and Kilmarnock and will be at home n the last day of the season.

There will be three away games – against Aberdeen, Hibs and the Rangers so unless Motherwell win on Sunday against the Ibrox club, assuming Celtic beat Livingston, then our first chance to win the league outright will be the first post match split.

Either the SPFL will give Celtic a home match to start with, which would then be followed by three tough away fixtures, or they will send us to Easter Road, as happened last season, to give us a chance to win it there. Celtic will have more tickets for that game than we’d get for either Pittodrie or Ibrox and there will be little to no appetite to give us a chance to win it in Govan.

“The only rational thing Steven Gerrard has said this week is that they played the best team in the country on Sunday,” Lenny said today.

He also thinks that the focus should be on just how well the Celtic players have done – under both the current and former manager – since the start of play after the winter break. On 29 December the Ibrox club was on a title charge, having got themselves onto level points with Celtic.

Tomorrow Celtic will have the chance to go 16 points ahead.

“We should be talking about our form since the turn of the year. The players play the game the right way and within the laws of the game.”

Well said Neil.

On tomorrow’s opponents, Lenny knows exactly what to expect from the West Lothian side that have done brilliantly this season and have secured their place in the Premiership for next season. They had started the season as everyone’s favourites to be relegated.

“Livingston play a consistent formation,” Lenny said.

“I like them. They’ve had a brilliant few years. A big strong team and it’s going to be another right good game.”
