The Sleekit Hypocrisy of Ally McCoist and when Rangers are Mute on Racism

Really was shocking”…”Sneakiness! “Extremely fly and cute”…this from Ally McCoist. Yes this Ally McCoist…zero self awareness! The hypocrisy of the man!

The difference in the way that these two highest profile ear whispering events have been treated is quite astonishing really. Neil Lennon’s reacted angrily to whatever was said as indeed did Glen Kamara on Thursday night. Yet it was photographs of Lennon’s angry face that was used in the media to stir up their “Hate Game’ claim. In that match Rangers had numerous players sent off, lost their discipline and lost the match. Celtic by contrast did zero wrong until the manager reacted to McCoist’s ear whisper.

Here’s Neil Lennon talking about the kind of abuse he has had to suffer living in Scotland because he is an Irish Catholic..

If we are to believe what the Sparta player said was out of order and racist then why was Neil Lennon not regarded as the victim and McCoist the offender and for him to comment in the way he did above – without anyone in the media raising the matter of his hypocrisy – is quite frankly astonishing.

The Ibrox club to a man were offended by what Kamara claims was said to him in the ear whisper and you have to assume from his reaction that he was racially abused on Thursday night. If UEFA reach the same conclusion then there could be a hefty punishment for Sparta and a lengthy ban for the player and rightly so. ” You f****** monkey,” is what Karama claims Sparta Prague defender Ondrej Kudela whispered in his ear. That is horrible racism and must be dealt with severely and Rangers were right to condemn it in the strongest possible terms.

However we’re struggling to find their condemnation of this very similar racist abuse directed at the Celtic forward Scott Sinclair…

And to his credit, as we have reported this morning, the Sparta President Jaroslav Tvrdik has spoken out forcibly to condemn his fans who on Friday displayed a shocking racist banner directed at theRangers midfielder Glen Kamara. But we are struggling to find any similar condemnation from either of the Rangers clubs on any of these similarly shocking racist examples shown below…

Many of these shocking racist incidents shown above have occurred over the past week, others are historic but still fairly recent. if this problem is going to be addressed in Scotland then all clubs – including theRangers really need to call out their own fans for their racism and not just when their own players are the victims of it.

Oh and Line of Duty is back…
