“There is a belief in this group that we can go to higher places,” Jota

Last night’s Man of the Match, as selected by UEFA, was Celtic’s Superstar from Portugal, who was asked in his interview on UEFA TV of he was happy with the 1-1 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk.

“Of course not,” Jota replied. “As a Celtic player, we always aim for the victory, and today we really wanted to get the victory. We were unlucky we didn’t get it, but we’ll keep on working, and there are plenty of matches to play.

“I think we keep on having some good chances, but we don’t finish them, and at Champions League level, if you don’t take them you’ll suffer for sure. But we’ll learn from this, and there is a belief in this group that we can go to higher places,” Jota added.

On Celtic just picking up one point from a possible six over the opening two matches, Jota confirmed that belief remains high within the Celtic squad. “In football, we know this can change in a minute. So, we just have to believe in ourselves and keep on, and that’s what we are going to do,” he said.

Incidentally while UEFA gave their Man of the Match to Jota, Sandman opted for Greg Taylor and if you haven’t read his Definitive Ratings, which were posted in the wee, small hours of last night, then the link is below…
