“They Don’t Want Celtic Fans Celebrating The Title,” Chris Sutton

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has always been cynical of referees and the Scottish football establishment. He is no stranger to controversy or getting a rise from rival fans and fellow pundits.

In his latest outburst, Sutton has given his views on the announcement of the post split fixtures, where he feels that Celtic are the big losers, being handed two away games where the title could be won – one of which with 0 away supporters allowed entry.

Speaking on the Record Sport Celtic podcast, Sutton said: “I’m sure they would still enjoy the lap of honour around Ibrox, even with no fans there. It is what it is, and the games had to be put in some particular order. But it does seem like they don’t want Celtic fans celebrating winning a title.

“From a fans’ perspective, there would be an element of disappointment they won’t get the opportunity to play against an Aberdeen or St Mirren at home after the split. But I don’t think it’s any great surprise the way the fixtures have come out.”

Celtic could clinch the title on Coronation weekend and they’ll be sure to join the Glasgow festivities if that turns out to be the case.
