“They will contribute to the team,” Carl Starfelt on new Celtic signings

Carl Starfelt has revealed that the Celtic squad is ready and looking forward to the coming competition for spaces in Ange Postecoglou’s starting line-up, following the introduction of new signings such as Yuki Kobayashi and Alistair Johnston.

Ange hasn’t hesitated this transfer window, by completing two moves to Paradise before the window has officially opened, although they are unable to play for the Bhoys until the 1st of January With this in mind, it is likely we will see a few more additions to the squad, and competition will be rife as Ange has compiled so many quality players in the same team.

When asked about the recent training with the new signings, Starfelt insisted that they provided a ‘good energy’ to the group and that it has all been positive. As reported by CelticFC, Starfelt said…

“They are really good guys, they are good positive characters, both of them. I think they are coming in with good energy,c and also really good players from what I’ve seen so far – all positive.”

To have a new player come into the fold, who plays in the same position as you may be disheartening. However, Starfelt is clear that the Bhoys welcome the competition and thrive under the pressure of limited spaces, as Starfelt’s place in the starting line-up may be threatened by Johnston and Kobayashi.

Starfelt continued: “(The manager) doesn’t have to say anything. I think everyone knows at a club like Celtic, who are always pushing to take the next steps and get better, it’s going to be like this.

“It’s going to be tough competition for the spots (in the team), which I think every player is, from what I’ve seen, are embracing it, knowing that they have to step up in training and perform every day. You can never relax.

“So I think it pushes everyone to hopefully become a little bit better. It’s nothing he (Ange) has to say, or we have to speak about. It’s just the way it is, and I think everyone has embraced it.”
