“This is a great moment for me”, Joe Hart reflects on Celtic transfer

Celtic completed the signing of former England No.1 Joe Hart this afternoon. Hart was confirmed as a Celtic player alongside James McCarthy in a double announcement as Ange Postecoglou strengthens his squad. Hart is expected to join up with his teammates in the Czech Republic against FK Jablonec.

Speaking to the club website, Hart expressed his delight at the move from Tottenham Hotspur as the 75-capped England Internationalist looks to secure his place as Postecoglou’s Number One goalie.

“This is a great moment for me in my career and I am absolutely delighted to be joining a club of Celtic’s stature.

“I know just how big this club is and of the incredible support that it enjoys, and I can’t wait to play in front of the fans at Celtic Park.

“I’m looking forward to meeting up with my new teammates now and getting to work with the squad and, in particular, the other goalkeepers here.”

Hart could be in line for a debut in the Czech Republic whilst McCarthy is expected to remain in Glasgow and train alone until his teammates return. Hart has struggled for regular first team football since Pep Guardiola arrived at Manchester City in 2016. Up until then, Hart was one of the world’s best goalies but subsequent moves to Torino, West Ham and Burnley have resulted in the player craving first team football and a move to Celtic will hopefully satisfy this.
