“This is why I’m here,” Wilfried Nancy – “This is also a way of life”

Wilfried Nancy has set out the focus for Celtic as they look to build momentum in the title race…

The Scottish Premiership champions produced an entertaining display in West Lothian yesterday afternoon, overturning deficits on two occasions to secure a 4–2 victory away to Livingston.

Strikes from Benjamin Nygren, Yang Hyun-jun and Arne Engels ensured Nancy’s side collected all three points, cutting the advantage held by Hearts at the top of the table following the Jambos’ 3-2 defeat to Hibernian at Easter Road.

Speaking via BBC Sport Scotland, the Celtic boss said: “I think that we could have controlled the game a little bit better, especially when we had to decide when we have to attack quick or when we have to keep the ball in their half, and I think that this is the next step.”

“To be able to control this kind of game better and to be able to have more freshness for the next game.”

“But I like the attitude. The attitude was really, really good. To distribute the competitive spirit was really, really good against a difficult team to play. The context, the pitch, and so on. So, really pleased.”

When question whether the attacking flair produced by Celtic in the first-half is the way he wants his teams to play, Nancy responded: “Yes, again, this is why I’m here. This is also Celtic, the club is like that and this is also a way of life.”

“And so for me, this is something that we have to do a little bit better. And again, can we score many goals, but also, can we defend better?”

“And for me, I think that the way we want to do it, step by step, I can see really good stuff. But again, like today, we won, but like I said, I think that we could have done better second half. And I think that this is something that we’re going to work on for the future.”

  1. There has been many encouraging signs in an attacking sence, since Nancy became manager imo?

Unfortunately, we are still handing up way to many scoring opportunities against ourselves?
So the balance isn’t right, and highlighted between how our left hand side and right side operate.

Always believed that defences win you league titles, and the attacking play will determine by just how much for ourselves imo?
That really hasn’t been the case for the best part of this calendar year, and remains in existence?

With CCV and AJ unavailable for a back 3 approach. No signs of Murray or Pusey stepping up either. Then the back 3 approach still comes with a huge risk factors involved.
Creating chances is great, despite ourselves taking the likes, at fairly poor levels still?
At least yesterday it was better, and needed to be also.

So balance within our team is possibly the biggest obstacle Nancy faces in finding solutions to imo?
Would help if more players can be found to settle into the system easier, especially as to many are still struggling imo to adapt?
Hardly helps with the injury list as it is, especially with players who could adapt to the changes involved far easier imo?
Massive decisions await for dealing with January, and just how confident are we, in Nancy making the footballing decisions required, is potentially at split opinions at present imo?
