This is Yatao – Daizen Maeda on ‘unusually enthusiastic’ Celtic fans

“Celtic fans and supporters are unusually enthusiastic. Yeah, they’re really passionate as if they’s crazy,” Daizen Maeda…

This is Yatao…Daizen Maeda talked about his wonderful experience at FC Mito Hollyhock and Celtic fans.

On 24 June, Daizen Maeda appeared in the talk event and half-time show as a guest at game of FC Machida Zelvia v FC Mito Hollyhock. He joined Mito in 2017 and scored 13 goals one season. It seems that his experience at this club, which he played in 2017, was very important in his career.

He looked back on those days as follows.

“If I hadn’t joined FC Mito Hollyhock, I am not who I am now, and also would never have been called up to Japan National Team. Wonderful supporters of this club have always supported me. Also, I learned the fun of scoring goals and doing my best for team at this club. That experience has led to my play for Celtic.”

He also talked about his past with a smile as follows.

“I’ve been maintaining my trademark skinhead since then by shaving my hair once every two days.

“Before I went to elementary school, I was running in the mountains in my neighborhood early in the morning every day. Maybe that’s why I can run faster now.”

Finally, in response to a question about the difference between Japanese and foreign football, he focused on Celtic supporters.

“Celtic fans and supporters are unusually enthusiastic. Yeah, they’re really passionate as if they are crazy. I feel that the part is very different from J-League.”

The relationship between Daizen and his former teammates, the club and fans still seems to be very good.

That’s all.
