Time for Elena Sadiku to send for the Goal Machine

It has been reported today that Natasha Flint could leave Liverpool FC Women before the end of the January window. After signing with the WSL side in July, Flint has been unable to break into the Liverpool team, making only two appearances since joining the club.

Check out the market value of Tash Flint, a player of proved quality and impact at Celtic, in that tweet above. An increase in the budget of a few hundred grand from the club would be a sensible investment for Celtic as a football club. Just saying.

Natasha Flint is a name that will be very familiar to Celtic supporters. If you need a reminder, she quickly became popular with the fans during her time here on loan last season, and even got her name on the scoresheet against theRangers in last season’s Scottish Cup final.

The Celtic Star called her the Goal Machine before she’d kicked a ball for Celtic – it was a reference to a Leicester City supporters’ banner – and that is exactly what she turned out to be. The Celtic attack were as weak as a used teabag on Friday night against theRangers in the Sky Sports Cup semi-final defeat and the 3-2 scoreline flatters the Ghirls.

Celtic supporters were hopeful that Tash would sign a permanent deal with the club at the end of her loan spell, but that didn’t happen, because the team she supports came in for her as a result of her impact at Celtic so the Goal Machine signed for Liverpool. Now though, Soccerdonna is reporting that Celtic FC Women would be interested in making a move for the Reds out-of-favour forward.

I think we’d all take her back in a heartbeat as what she brings to the team could salvage our season. Despite being knocked out of the Sky Sports Cup, but are just three points behind theRangers in the SWPL1 so it’s not insurmountable. However Celtic clearly need to strengthen the women’s team which is clearly weaker than last season.

If we can sign a player who has proven they have what it takes to do it in the Scottish Women’s Premier League, so who better than Flint? Maybe bringing Clarissa Larisey back too, as the Canadian was a class act and left to chase a World Cup dream with Canada that then never happened. Go get her too, Alena!

I reckon that Tash would be interested in the move as last season, Fran Alonso was hopeful she would put pen to paper. He told The Celtic Star that she comes from a Celtic family and loved her time at the club. It is no surprise that she eventually departed for England though, as it’s very hard to compete with teams that have finances like Liverpool, the team she supported as a child.

Let’s hope Elena Sadiku makes a move for her, as I’d certainly love to see Tash back wearing the Hoops!

Now that Tash has returned (on loan), I would really be happy to see Clarissa Larisey again. Here’s another thought: Charlie Wellings. She’s off at Reading, which got relegated after last season (to the English Championship). Reading looks like they’ll be relegated again after this season, the ownership has missed a few pay periods, and the team has been reduced from professional to semi-pro again. Surely Celtic could better THAT deal…..
