Tom Rogic set for Pittodrie return whilst Aberdeen captain is major doubt

Tom Rogic looks set to make a return to the Celtic team ahead of tomorrow’s game against Aberdeen at Pittodrie. The mercurial Australian midfielder didn’t feature in the loss at Ibrox to Rangers but will be acutely aware of the fact that everyone at Celtic’s fate is under the microscope.

The interim Celtic manager, John Kennedy, said to today’s media conference that a small niggle kept Rogic out of the action in Sunday’s defeat in The Scottish Cup but that he was fit and ready to go in tomorrow night’s trip to the North East.

“Tom Rogic had issues the day before the Rangers game, in the warm-up he was struggling a bit and couldn’t take part in the game.

“He’s come through training today so he’ll be available tomorrow which is good news.”

The player has been criticised in some quarters this season for being unreliable but the same could be said for a lot of players. As one of Celtic’s higher earners, incoming CEO Dominic McKay may look to get the 28-year-old off of the Celtic books. Although an incoming manager may look to Rogic as being a key component in a future team and utilising him in a similar fashion to the way that Brendan Rodgers did so during his tenure.

Meanwhile, Aberdeen will be without their captain Joe Lewis, who was substituted off in the first half of the weekend’s penalties win over Livingston. According to BT, Lewis is unlikely to play after injuring his ribs in a collision.
