‘Tom Rogic, with an absolute screamer,’ won the league at Rugby Park

ODSONNE EDOUARD’S stunning goal at Dens Park on Sunday all but wrapped up the title for Celtic and it bares a remarkable similarity to a goal that Tom Rogic scored down at Rugby Park on this day in 2016.

Aberdeen had been trying to make it a fight for the finish in the Premiership and with Celtic kicking off early on the Saturday morning, any points dropped would open the door for the Dons in their 3pm kick-off. The Dons were 4 points behind Celtic that morning having played a game more.

It was all going according to plan for Derek McInnes as he prepared his team for their game at Fir Park. Motherwell actually asked for this game to be postpone as they were suffering from a sickness bug and were without most of their first team.

Ronny Deila’s Celtic side had huffed and puffed against Killie all afternoon but hadn’t managed to make the breakthrough.

Then Tom Rogic, on as a substitute for the last ten minutes for Nir Bitton, found some space and curled in an unstoppable 25 yarder into the top corner to send the Celtic supporters wild.

Then over at Fir Park, Motherwell somehow managed to win 2-1 with ex-Celt Scott McDonald scoring.

Just like on Sunday at Dens Park, Rogic’s injury time winner, had the feeling of a league winning goal.

And just to make sure this time around, Tom Rogic will be back for our next game, against the Rangers on (Beautiful) Sunday, 31 March. Bring your tricolours – Tom likes a goal against THEM!

Here’s the Rogic never to be forgotten wonder strike at Rugby Park on this day in 2016…
